It’s Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo’s birthday on June 30. So…let’s celebrate! What better gift than to support Jetsunma’s Dharma activity by making a donation to the Endowment Fund for Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery.

In Jetsunma’s Words
"The Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery has been founded on the generosity of so many people around the world who care about the welfare and education of Himalayan nuns. Now a hundred young nuns are working hard at their Dharma studies and practice. We are hopeful that in the future some of these women will help to spread the Dharma throughout their Himalayan regions and beyond.
We have also four nuns in long-term retreat who are training to become our first togdenma or yoginis (they have currently completed six years). So, at present the DGL Nunnery is running smoothly and harmoniously full of happy and industrious nuns.
However we must also look to the future of this Nunnery and consider its financial stability for the years to come. Traditionally monasteries were supported through land and villages dedicated to that monastic settlement. Nunneries usually did not own much land and the nuns mainly relied on the offerings of their individual families. In exile that system has now been supplanted by the reliance on donations coming from kind sponsors in many countries around the world who value the wholehearted dedication of these monastics to the spiritual life.
In view of this, we have established an Endowment Fund with the hope that sufficient capital can be raised to help maintain a sound financial basis and a regular source of income for the DGL Nunnery into the future. This fund is managed in New York by a small team of dedicated financiers who invest our modest capital assets both ethically and judiciously. The future financial stability of DGL Nunnery depends on this Endowment Fund and for this reason we seek the contributions of our friends and supporters throughout the world to help us achieve this worthy goal.”
